About the role: 

Electrophysiology is an exciting growth area in the medical device industry. With the acquisition of FARAPULSE Inc., Boston Scientific is expanding its product portfolio in pulsed field ablation technologies and bringing state of the art treatments to our customers and their patients. The Ablation Catheter Product Development Team is growing and has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Senior Fellow level engineer role supporting advanced electrophysiology catheter development within the Cardiology division. The Associate Senior Fellow Engineer role will be a key member of the senior technical engineering staff responsible for developing novel technology and product level innovation to support future generations of mapping integrated ablation products.   

 

As an Associate Senior Fellow Engineer, you will lead new product development solutions to address multi-faceted customer issues, requiring applied in-depth problem-solving competencies. You will be a part of a high-performance team responsible for the design, implementation, and evaluation of disposable medical devices within our electrophysiology pulsed field ablation single use device portfolio. This critical role will be a part of best-in-class development practices and rigorous, holistic product design in coordination with internal and external partners.  

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provides technical leadership to product development programs involving the highest levels of technical and system integration complexity.

  • Drives key scope decision based on critical users needs, knowledge of competitive technologies, and technical design trade-offs.

  • Drives data driven decisions around critical knowledge gaps. 

  • Maintains communication on technical progress and decisions with cross-functional stakeholders. 

  • Advises development programs to optimize product development timelines and improve speed to market.

  • Researches, develops, designs, and evaluates; mechanical and electro-mechanical materials, components, assemblies, processes and/or equipment. 

  • Combines internal and external (outsourced) sources, improves our capabilities to establish and work with institutions, and external companies, networking, and leveraging contacts in various industries and research organizations across the globe. 

  • Acts as the system architect and integration lead to drive technical decision-making with a deep understanding of electromechanical systems. 

  • Develops solutions to diverse engineering problems of high complexity which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Leverages internal/external partners as necessary to achieve project objectives. 

  • Drives technical aspects of complex single use device development including requirements, design, implementation, test, integration, transfer to manufacturing, and verification/validation. 

  • Works across multiple design/product workstreams in a capacity to resolve complex problems with robust technical solutions. Considers all critical aspects of product design during decision making including patient safety, clinical practice, high-level product performance, and product manufacturability. 

  • Exercises independent judgment in developing product requirements, methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Solutions require an in-depth knowledge of the circulatory support space and the ability to apply that knowledge in new and innovative ways. Has expert knowledge of the impact of various solutions on the business. 

  • Solves system problems by analyzing the situation and recommending corrective or alternative actions.
