The Program Director is accountable for program quality, enrollment and pipeline growth, accreditation readiness, faculty support, student success, and data-informed continuous improvement across a 7-week delivery.
The Program Director partners with Academic Affairs, Institutional Effectiveness, Marketing, Admissions, and Student Success to stabilize and grow enrollment, strengthen MSHI and EdD graduate education.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide leadership to ensure the effective development, administration, and long-term success of the MS in Health Informatics(MSHI) and the EdD in Health Professions Education, including shared graduate certificates and related academic pathways.
Lead the Vision, strategy, and the day-to-day academic operations for both programs, ensuring alignment with theUniversity'ss mission, the college's strategic plan, and institutional priorities.
Oversee curriculum design, development, implementation, and assessment across assigned programs, including vertically and horizontally aligned coursework and any shared core(e.g., Ethics & AI in Healthcare).
Conduct annual curriculum reviews, maintain program integrity, and ensure adherence to program learning outcomes, accreditation expectations, and evolving industry needs.
Monitor courses to ensure instructional quality, pedagogical best practices, and consistent adherence to course rubrics, student competencies, and academic integrity standards.
Ensure robust instruction across key content areas, including informatics, leadership, applied research, assessment, ethics, HIPAA/privacy, and data governance.
Lead development of innovative, stackable micro-credentials and certificate pathways that align with workforce needs and support MSHI and EdD academic progression.
Maintain compliance with all relevant federal, state, and institutional regulations related to distance education, including FERPA, ADA, State Authorization/NCSARA, and IRB considerations.
Lead ongoing program assessment, annual reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives for both programs.
Maintain programmatic accreditation where applicable; if pursuing CAHIM accreditation for MSHI, serve as the accreditation lead (Selt- Study, Evidence Library, Site Visit Coordination).
Ensure timely submission of required documentation, program changes, student records, experiential learning documentation, and resolution of student or external complaints.
In consultation with the Dean, recruit, hire, onboard, mentor, evaluate, and retain high-quality full-time and adjunct faculty across assigned programs.
Establish and supervise Subject Matter Experts (SME) Leads (e.g., Data Analytics/Interoperability, Doctoral Research/ARP) with clearly defined roles and outcomes.
Create equitable faculty teaching loads in alignment with Faculty Handbook guidelines, and balance graduate instructional needs across 7-week formats.
Cultivate a learning-centered environment supporting scholarship, faculty-student engagement, conflict resolution, and professional development consistent with the institutional mission.
Collaborate with Advising, Student Success, and academic support units to coordinate academic pathways that support retention, persistence, and timely degree completion.
Own the strategy for strengthening the MSHI and EdD pipeline, including aligned outcomes, advising flow, bridge modules, and auto-aticulated credits.
Partner with student support services to implement proactive academic outreach, progression checks, ARP milestones, and interventions for at-risk learners.
Provide data-informed analysis to determine program needs and support continuous improvement in student outcomes.
Assist with recruitment and retention by partnering with Marketing/Admissions to develop differentiated messaging for informatics leadership, AI governance, academic educator pathways, and related program strengths.
Develop employer, clinical, and IT system partnerships for capstones, applied projects, internships, and workforce-prioritized initiatives.
Represent programs at professional societies, conferences, webinars, and the community.industry events(e.g., HIMSS, AMIA, AUPHA, AERA/IME).
Participate in strategic planning and budgeting processes related to program growth, enrollment forecasting, instructional needs, and resource allocation.
