Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Geotechnical Dam Safety Engineer to join the East Region Dams Team. This position will support a variety Dam Safety Engineering projects across the East Region.  The successful candidate will join the ENR consistently ranked #1 Dams and Reservoirs firm and have access to exciting career advancement opportunities.  This position will report to one of the AECOM offices in the East Region including but not limited to Germantown, Maryland; Conshohocken, Pennsylvania; Franklin Tennessee; or Syracuse, New York.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical support for projects including design, analysis, inspection, construction. observation, and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of hydraulic structures. 
  • Prepare and perform quality reviews of other Engineer's work on deliverables such design calculations, engineering reports, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of Dam Safety Engineering projects.
  • Responsible for quality control.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship junior staff.
  • Develop engineering proposals.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel for project work part time as needed.
  • Assist and perform the roles of a Project Manager such as maintaining client relationships, contracting, project planning and execution, financial management, technical management, change management and project team management.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • 4 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Relevant experience with dams and other hydraulic structures, including rehabilitation and/or new design and construction.
  • Experience in relevant geotechnical engineering software programs such as GeoStudio and gINT.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Ability and desire to occasionally travel to project sites, both local and remote.
  • Strong desire to learn along with professional drive.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem solving skills Effective time-management and interpersonal skills.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in at least one state with the ability to successfully apply for reciprocity in additional states.
