Senior Software Engineer, Clover Care Services
Clover HealthAbout the role
At Clover Health, our mission is simple but powerful: to improve every life by delivering care that is high-quality, accessible, and rooted in compassion and innovation. Our Clover Care Services (CCS) team brings this mission to life by offering personalized, proactive support to our members while partnering closely with providers to elevate outcomes across the community. Powered by Clover Assistant, our advanced data-driven platform, we combine technology with the heart of caregiving, empowering patients, supporting providers, and transforming the way care is delivered.
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help design, build, and scale the technology and intelligent systems that power Clover Care Services. In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of clinical operations, logistics, product development, and AI-driven automation to translate operational complexity into scalable systems that improve efficiency, strengthen care coordination, and enhance care delivery for our Medicare Advantage members.
As the first dedicated engineering hire within Clover Care Services, you will partner directly with Product to build foundational infrastructure that enables scalable clinical impact. This includes intelligent scheduling and route optimization for in-home clinicians, workflow automation across administrative teams, AI-assisted documentation, and risk-informed member management systems.
You will play a critical role in identifying opportunities to reduce manual operations across CCS by leveraging automation, AI, and thoughtful systems design. Over time, this role will grow in scope as the Care Services engineering function expands.
As a Senior Software Engineer you will:
- Own the technical design and implementation of systems that support clinician workflows, scheduling, routing, and visit management.
- Design and build intelligent logistics infrastructure that optimizes clinician time, geography, and member risk.
- Collaborate deeply across teams (clinical operations, product, analytics, and engineering) to identify and deliver scalable technology solutions.
- Translate operational and clinical needs into robust, maintainable, production-grade systems.
- Build automation and AI-enabled workflows that reduce administrative burden and increase clinician capacity.
- Drive initiatives from technical discovery and architecture through implementation, launch, and iteration.
- Contribute to engineering best practices, system reliability, and long-term scalability.
- Help shape technical direction and influence the evolving product roadmap through systems thinking and cross-functional collaboration.
Success in this role looks like:
- In the first 90 days: You’ve developed strong context around CCS workflows and systems, contributed to technical design discussions, and delivered meaningful improvements to at least one operational or clinician-facing workflow.
- In the first 6 months: You’ve led development of systems that measurably reduce manual administrative effort, improve scheduling and routing efficiency, enhance care coordination, or increase clinician time spent delivering care.
- In the long term: You’ve helped establish the technical foundation that enables Clover Care Services to scale membership growth while improving care quality, operational efficiency, and clinician experience.
You should get in touch if:
- You have 5–10+ years of experience building and scaling production systems.
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- You have strong proficiency in Python and experience with at least one additional backend language such as Ruby, Go, C, or Java.
- You are comfortable writing production-grade SQL and working directly with relational databases.
- You have experience building across the stack, including backend services and frontend applications using modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular
Familiarity with data pipelines, data orchestration, and core data structures. - You are comfortable owning complex, ambiguous problems from concept through implementation.
- You are excited about applying AI, automation, and creative systems thinking to real-world operational challenges.
- You are skilled at collaborating across clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders.
- You are a systems thinker who understands how data, logistics, and human workflows interact.
- You are motivated by building infrastructure that meaningfully improves care delivery.
- You are located in or willing to work primarily within Eastern or Central Time zones, as our practice operates primarily on East
