Step Into Your New Role 

Kleinfelder is seeking an externally focused Area Business Development Manager to help lead our business development efforts and drive net sales growth within Northern California and Pacific Area. In this position, you will be responsible for driving business development activities across multiple markets and service line, meeting with clients and teaming partners, participating in or involved with professional external organizations, identifying new opportunities, planning and positioning to win these opportunities [capture planning], Request for Proposal [RFP] analysis and go/no-go decisions across multiple markets and business lines in Northern California and the Pacific [Hawaii & Guam]. 

 

Abilities of the ideal candidate:

  • Outgoing personality and outward focused. 
  • Excellent grasp of marketing fundamentals, visual communications, and knowledge of theoretical and practical developments in the A/E/C industry. (Experience in A/E/C market is required.)
  • The ability to develop win themes and integrate them throughout a proposal.
  • Strong grammar, writing, and editing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadline and priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Have a "client service" mindset and work in close partnership with technical professionals (engineers, scientists, and construction professionals).
  • Have strong verbal communication skills and ability to organized, prepare for and facilitate bi-weekly marketing meetings.
  • Can work independently, collaboratively as part of a team, and in conjunction with senior management/executive staff.
  • Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities, deadlines, and direction in a dynamic work environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Leading business development efforts across all Kleinfelder offices in Northern CA and the Pacific [Hawaii, Guam] while supervising an Area wide sales team.
  • Identifying new business opportunities: This involves researching potential clients or markets to determine where the company can expand its offerings and increase revenue.
  • Building and maintaining relationships: Business development professionals are often responsible for building and maintaining relationships with current and potential clients, partners, and stakeholders across multiple markets [e.g. Water, Transportation, Power, Commercial] and service lines [Engineering & Construction, Environmental Permitting and Planning]
  • Developing sales strategies: This includes analyzing market trends and creating sales strategies to help the company drive revenue and achieve its' goals.
  • Negotiating contracts and deals: Business development professionals often help to negotiate non-disclosure and teaming agreements to the mutual satisfaction of clients and partners.
  • Conducting market research: This involves gathering and analyzing data on industry trends, customer preferences, and competitors to help the company make informed business decisions.
  • Collaborating with other departments: Business development professionals often work closely with other departments within the company, such as marketing and product development, to ensure that business goals are aligned.
  • Managing budgets and financial forecasting: Business development professionals may be responsible for creating and managing budgets, as well as forecasting net sales, net revenue, and costs associated with business development.
  • Reporting on business performance: This involves creating reports and presentations to communicate the company's performance to stakeholders, including senior management and investors.
