One Full-time (100% FTE) Position for Teaching Associate Advanced Practice Provider (APP-- ARNP or PA-C)

Position Overview:  We are seeking a highly reliable and flexible Advanced Practice Provider (APP, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) with proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment for our Inpatient and Outpatient Montlake Campus Interventional and Structural Cardiology Team.

 Position Details:  Full-time (100% FTE), Interventional and Structural Cardiology, Inpatient and Outpatient responsibilities, variable 10-to-12-hour shifts, Mon-Fri with possible Sat.  One-year, 12-month appointment, renewable annually. Faculty are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. 

 University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

The base salary range for this position will be $10,833 - $15,175 per month ($130,000 - $182,095 per year), commensurate with years of experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may or may not include Temporary Pay Supplements or Administrative Supplement.

 Position Description

The Structural and Interventional Cardiology programs at UW are world-class.  We perform complex and cutting edge coronary and valve procedures, and are a rapidly growing subspeciality within the UW Medicine Heart Institute.    Advanced Practice Providers (APPs - ARNPs and PAs) are integral and essential to the comprehensive care of this complex patient population, and are involved in providing quality care throughout the pre-procedural, peri-procedural and post-procedural phases of care.

The Cardiology APP will have the following responsibilities:

 

1. Clinical Knowledge and Patient Care

The APP will:

a.    Provide a full spectrum of independent as well as collaborative care to complex adult cardiology patients with coronary and/or valvular disease who are pre- and post-procedural in the inpatient and outpatient setting

b.    Demonstrate knowledge of etiology, risk factors, pathophysiology, presentation and epidemiology of common cardiovascular conditions, with a strong knowledge of and/or strong interest in interventional and structural cardiology.

c.    Perform histories and physical assessment of patients that are timely, accurate, complete, concise, relevant and appropriate to the clinical problem.

d.    Order appropriate diagnostic studies and correctly interpret the results. 

e.    Utilize critical thinking to synthesize and analyze collected data.

f.     Develop, implement, evaluate and alter the plan of care as needed.

g.    Manage general cardiovascular conditions based on knowledge of the indications, contraindications, side effects, interactions and adverse reactions of pharmacologic agents and other relevant treatment modalities.

h.    Teach and counsel patients and their families.

i.      Maintain accurate, complete, concise and timely documentation in the EMR.

j.      Provide care that is patient and family centered, compassionate, appropriate and effective for the promotion of cardiovascular health, prevention illness and treatment of disease.

The APP will provide the above care services in a manner that optimizes access to care and use of standard clinic templates.
