The location of this role is the Hermosa Project site near Patagonia, Arizona

 

The Role

The Geotechnical Technician to help deliver QA/QC support for ongoing and planned capital projects. This role will assist with the management of geotechnical QA/QC programs and test work for Hermosa Project’s construction scopes. This role will be a field-based position with limited office work.

 

Accountabilities (Include but are not limited to):

Individual Accountabilities:

• Perform geotechnical QA/QC and ensure records comply with MSHA and GCMP requirements.
• Track shaft liner sampling compliance, perform strength testing for shotcrete and conduct rock-bolt pull testing.
• Assist with development QC and shaft LiDAR scanning.
• Assist with installation and maintenance of ground monitoring instrumentation.
• Maintain QAQC database and issue QC reports to key project stakeholders.
• Participate in site safety audits, training, and other Hermosa risk management processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications, Skills, and Expertise:

• Minimum high school diploma (required)
• At least 2 years in underground, open pit mine operations or exploration (preferred)
• Experience with geotechnical QA/QC programs involving shotcrete and ground support testing is highly preferred.

 

• Team oriented with strong leadership skills and demonstrated commitment to safety and health, and environment excellence along with technical best practices (required).
• Ability to solve and communicate technical problems with practical solutions (required)
• Ability to think strategically, demonstrate good judgment, strong organizational and planning skills required (preferred)
• Ability to work in a complex project setting
• Must maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word (preferred)
• Familiarity with 3D software like Vulcan, Deswik, PointStudio, and other software packages is a plus.
