About the role:
The Senior Maintenance Technician will be responsible for facilitation and leadership to maintain, install, modify, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, rebuild, and dismantle all types of complex manufacturing and support equipment. This role will also be responsible for mentoring, auditing and facilitating others in applying knowledge of maintenance to the improvement of safety, quality, delivery, cost and culture.

- Perform routine diagnostic checks on automated systems, monitor automated systems, isolate problems and perform repairs.
- Strong skill set with AB programmable logic controllers (SLC, PLC, and Control Logix families), (Siemens S7 a Plus) as well as Human Interface (HMIs) such as AB PanelView, FactoryTalk View and Wonderware.
- Ability to configure, test, troubleshoot and commission AB and Siemens VFDs.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and commission PLC and HMI based control systems with the ability to make minor programming changes.
- Direct and oversee the maintenance of programs for PLCs and PCs coordinating with Process Engineers, Project Engineers, Information Technology staff, and Production and Maintenance personnel.
- Guide and train others with less experience through mentoring.
- Understanding of industrial power circuits, installation practices, and general OSHA safety practices.
- Understand the plant electrical criteria, standards and company guidelines.
- Collaborates with production supervisors and leads as well as Engineering, Planning, Quality and Safety teams where necessary.
- Lead and coordinate emergency repair situations minimizing downtime, including liaising with external contractors directly and internal teams, especially during out of hours periods.
- Perform all necessary Preventative and Corrective Maintenance activities.
- Attend periodic maintenance leadership meetings.
- Assist the Maintenance Manager in achieving departmental KPI’s.
- Ensure all tasks and activities carried out by the team are done following Barry Callebaut safety, food safety and engineering guidelines and procedures.
- Observe all safety, sanitation, food safety, GMP and HACCP requirements.
- Perform various equipment preventive maintenance tasks as necessary, but routinely in cases requiring advanced technical expertise.
- Responsible for safety compliance personally and with equipment.
- Review documentation for maintenance activity using the maintenance database, adequately communicate maintenance issues to appropriate employees (e.g., other maintenance techs, operators, engineers, supervisors, etc.), and properly utilize the maintenance inventory system.
- Train production employees as needed for set-ups, operation of all equipment, etc.
- Participate in projects and/or rebuilds.
- Assist in day-to-day support of operators for adjustments, setups, and change overs
- Notify the leader in charge of any anomaly that is outside the procedure.
- Respect the safety rules and take care of yourself and your colleagues respecting and following the safety procedures in force in the company.
- Report unsafe acts and conditions.
- Participate in mandatory training sessions.
- Commit to fulfill the expectations of quality and service of the clients, as well as the current regulatory compliance applicable to the food industry.
- Responsible for reporting any situation of potential or real danger to your superior and the Quality department.
- Keep the area, tools and equipment in your care clean and tidy.
Education:
- Associates degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience and credentials
- High school diploma or equivalent
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years work experience in an industrial manufacturing maintenance related field, required.
