Job Description
Your Role
INCREF and INREIT are non-traded real estate investment trusts that are SEC registrants. INCREF primarily invests in commercial real estate loans and INREIT primarily invests in commercial real estate properties. Both INCREF and INREIT are externally managed by Invesco Advisors and are engaged in continuous offerings of their common stock.
The Chief Accounting Officer serves as a proactive and strategic business partner to the INCREF and INREIT management teams and works collaboratively across the organization to support investment decisions, control operating costs and build an infrastructure to support business growth. The Chief Accounting Officer reports to INCREF and INREIT’s Chief Financial Officer, directly manages two controllers and indirectly manages offshore accounting resources and third party outsourced portfolio accounting and general ledger accounting firms. The Chief Accounting Officer fosters a continuous learning environment and encourages cross functional training across fund operations.
You will be responsible for:
Educating management team on financial impact of regulatory changes and strategic business decisions
Monitoring industry trends in financial reporting and developing non-GAAP metrics to support investor communications and comparison of Company operating results to peers
Partnering with Fund Operations to develop and maintain financial models and analyses to support various strategic initiatives, financing strategies and forecast operating results
Ensuring accounting processes and systems are in place to support business growth
Leading finance portion of due diligence discussions with third party potential distributors and investors
Overseeing implementation of new accounting standards and ensuring appropriate application of U.S. GAAP to complex business transactions
Overseeing external reporting, including preparation of the Company’s periodic Securities Exchange Act filings, communications with the Securities and Exchange Commission, and private placement memorandum supplements
Managing relationships with internal and external auditors, tax preparers, tax counsel, and outsourced accounting services providers
Overseeing SOX compliance, risk assessment and maintenance of adequate system of internal controls
Presenting complex accounting and tax matters to the Board of Directors and management team in plain English
Overseeing preparation of federal and state income tax returns, required shareholder reporting and forecasts of taxable income
Overseeing REIT and Investment Company Act of 1940 testing and compliance
The experience you bring:
Board room experience as an officer in a public company strongly preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA
Strong knowledge of SEC reporting, US GAAP and SOX
Financial services background preferred; REIT industry and multinational experience a plus
Independent, self-starter with ability to set agenda, problem solve and drive progress with little direction
Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity in a fast-paced environment
Superior organization and attention to detail required. Ability to multi-task and synthesize multiple perspectives to accomplish business objectives
