ABOUT THE POSITION:Fluence is seeking an intern to work with the Americas New Customer Solutions team. This role will create value for Fluence through the evaluation of ML techniques and determination of their appropriate application to meet customer needs. Key to this role with be the research of techniques and learning how to apply them in a Fluence specific context. This is a significant role in a young, dynamic group inside Fluence with opportunity for high individual contribution and impact.
As an Applied Machine Learning Intern, you will:· As an outcome of internship, provide proposals with examples for new, useful ML applications based on existing Fluence data and propose changes to data capture needs for future applications.· Learn how Fluence conducts diligence of external parties and participate in that diligence with senior technical experts at Fluence· Create ML technology frameworks meaningful to the Fluence business and place/track technologies within those frameworks. · Map innovations happening in the ML space and associated industry participants.· Draft reports with intended audience of senior leadership and decision makers within Fluence. Publish such reports and maintain the reference library of such reports. · Review, summarize, and synthesize work ongoing in the ML field, including both academic sources (e.g. journal papers) as well as industry sources (e.g. white papers, conference proceedings) to support key activities above.

What will our ideal candidate bring to Fluence?
- Works in a manner consistent with Fluence’s values.
- Has a passion for the future of energy storage and a disinterest in the status quo.
- Seeking a degree in a technical field such as engineering, computer science, or similar.
- Has direct experience developing ML algorithims.
- Desire to apply technical background to new, customer focused solutions.
- Experience with conveying ideas and making persuasive arguments using Microsoft Office software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint).
- Excels at working independantly, strong problem resolution and decision-making skills, creative and resourceful, display sound judgment and demonstrate accountability
- Ability to work in a time-sensitive and agile growth environment
- A collaborative spirit in working across teams and functions
- Interest in both the fundamentals of technology as well as adoption of technology by society and industry.
