SALARY RANGE

$52,500 - $64,000 depending upon years of teaching experience and education 


GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

This is a 9-month, full-time position.
 

The Welding Technology Instructor is responsible for providing classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instruction in welding and cutting processes. The instructor will prepare students for employment in industrial, commercial, construction, fabrication, and manufacturing settings while maintaining industry standards, safe work practices, and workforce readiness expectations.
 

Instructors may be assigned classes at any of the four River Parishes Community College campuses (Gonzales, Reserve, Plaquemine, and St. Charles), as determined by student need and institutional demand. Teaching needs may include face-to-face, hybrid, online, day, evening, and/or weekend classes.
 

Full-time faculty are expected to actively serve on campus committees, participate in campus activities, engage in student advising and recruitment efforts, and support workforce development initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS
 Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or Technical Diploma in Welding and three (3) years of experience in the field; OR at least five (5) years of welding and cutting experience.
  • Proficient in multiple welding processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Welder (CW).
  • AWS Certified Welding Educator (CWE).
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • OSHA Authorized Instructor credential.
  • NCCER certification.
  • Previous teaching, training, apprenticeship, or mentoring experience.
  • Experience working with adult learners and postsecondary students.
  • Current knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety practices.
  • Experience maintaining laboratory equipment and inventory.
  • Experience developing partnerships with business and industry.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
