Job Description

The Product Innovation Lead we seek will be responsible for new products designs and developments from the ground up.  He/she will provide guidance in the future of how data and analytics are shaped and serviced for Life Insurance product lifecycles - from marketing to underwriting to servicing to risk management. 

The incumbent will supervise the data scientist team in the implementation of advanced predictive analytics through visualization, data modeling, forecasting, simulation, and data analytics taken from complex, high-volume, and high-dimensional datasets.  Build, lead, and develop team of data scientists and developers in the design, solutioning and execution of advanced data analytics products that solve business problems, improve operational efficiency and/or upgrade customer experience.  Effectively measure and present product value propositions to executive and management teams, assist in strategy development, and guide the expansion of business opportunities.  Coordinates and leads daily team activities.  May spend a portion of time performing the work of those they supervise.  Assists with management decisions and activities.  Working knowledge of team function within the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Works on medium to large-sized, single, or multi-product projects, usually with multiple functional partners:

• Foster a culture of innovation and purpose
• Conduct ongoing customer and market research to develop empathy for our customers and understand deeply the problems and issues facing them
• Collaborate with leadership to form and execute product plans to enter and disrupt a new and exciting market for Verisk Life Solutions. 
  • New product value proposition
  • Business model justification
  • Scope of minimal viable product
  • Product design and implementation plan
  • Prototyping and Testing
  • Continuous enhancements, and
  • Scaling new product line.
• Collaborate with the Data & Analytics team to gather requirements from business and translate them into technical solutions
• Provide requirements and guidance to development team for product implementation, data flow designs, and user experience designs
• Own the successful execution of product development strategies from idealization, prototyping to testing and production
• Lead the development of quantitative metrics to measure the value add and the performance of each new product
• Identify and lead the sourcing of data that support data analytics solutions
• Cultivate and manage strong relationships with partners across the company
• Look ahead to future product developments and changes in the marketplace and keep Verisk well positioned to grow and maintain our competitive edge
• Provides guidance to less experienced staff, as needed, assists in employment related decisions and matters
• Serves as advisory-level pre-sales support and post-sales product specialist when needed
• Acts as a liaison between customers and company

Qualifications

Essential Education and Work Experience

• Bachelor's degree required.  STEM and or advanced degree desirable
• Six to nine years of experience in relevant industry business practices, or business consulting.
• Demonstrated product innovation, design, development experience in technology or financial services
• Knowledge of the financial services (Life & Annuity) industry or products preferred but not required
• Ability to lead cross-functional team communication and develop cross-functional partnerships
• Excellent problem solving and business analysis skills
• Ability to quickly understand existing business operations, workflows, systems, goals, and technology options for given situations
