What will you do?
A day in the life of a Senior Analyst, Customs Compliance, at Vans looks a little like this.
The primary responsibilities of the Customs Compliance Senior Analyst are to provide support in customs compliance for the VF Outdoor Coalition. The Senior Analyst is charged to assist the Compliance Manager and group Director in the Harmonized Tariff classification of all products, provide instructions to customs brokers, assist in the creation and modification of department processes, perform audits and data analysis, and undertake other compliance requirements as needed.
PLEASE NOTE: This role is not a data analytics position. Customs compliance positions require knowledge related to laws and regulations governing the import and export of goods, ensuring accurate declarations, and proper classification.

- Engages with product acquisition (sourcing) and product development departments in the PLM process to evaluate Harmonized Tariff Classifications, duty rates, preference program qualifications, and other applicable customs compliance criteria.
- Works in conjunction with the logistics department to report, collect, and track export shipment data required for the purpose of filing duty drawback claims with U.S. Customs.
- Develops and supports platforms for managing duty recovery efforts and value reconciliation.
- Communicates and shares information with customs brokers for the clearance of customs entries. Handles non-routine and complicated issues with the brokers and assists junior members of the team with their customs clearance related questions.
- Develop and supports platforms for managing post-importation audits and brand self-assessments for annual Trusted Trader program.
- Audits customs entries for correctness and conformity with appropriate laws and regulations, and delegates entry audit responsibilities to junior members of the team.
- Advises staff of all other customs and other government requirements, e.g., Fish and Wildlife, FDA, Safety, and Federal Trade Commission requirements.
- Supports area Manager and group Director in updating and maintaining customs Import Procedures Guide and other department related SOPs and reference materials.
- Monitors and updates internal systems to ensure all necessary data and data tables are accurate and directs their correction with other internal teams if necessary.
