What?

This position maintains plant equipment and facilities to meet production objectives, utilizing mechanical, diagnostic, and analytical skills.

The position requires a person to be able to frequently walk, stand and climb; bend and twist; see, hear and talk; use hands to type, handle or feel tools, controls; use hands and arms to reach, hold and carry tools or items.  Lifting/moving up to 40lbs is also required.  This position also requires a person to handle environments of varied temperatures and with various food allergens present; and be comfortable at various heights.


In addition, this position requires a person to travel occasionally to various worksites including OFD locations, vendor and training sites and various other venues.  Typical plant conditions (varying temperatures, wet, dry, high noise).
 

Main aspects of the role include:

  • Inspecting, repairing, and performing general maintenance on packaging, processing, and other plant equipment under various environmental conditions.  Performing preventive maintenance duties on assigned equipment.
  • Providing operators and operator mechanics with technical assistance and training to maximize and/or improve operation performance.
  • Diagnosing equipment malfunctions and performing corrective action.
  • Attending daily production scheduling meetings and preparing log of daily shift activities.
  • Assembling and/or fabricating new facilities or equipment when assigned to special projects.
  • Performs work in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal codes and regulations.
  • Acts as a first responder on the company hazardous material team. 

You!

The ideal candidate will need to have a high school diploma or equivalent.  In addition, completion of a state-certified mechanical apprentice training program (i.e. Millwright) or equivalent is a plus. The individual should have previous general maintenance experience with process and packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment.
If you have LME card, food manufacturing experience, computer and electronics skills or an Associate of Science degree in a trade-related area, that would be a big plus.  Additionally, experience with maintaining and/or repairing ammonia refrigeration, processing and canning/packing equipment, boilers and vacuum systems is a plus.
