Overview:

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse Breast Navigator for the Medical Oncology and Infusion Center. This a part time, day shift position in Charlottesville, VA. Schedule is three 8-hour shifts a week. No nights or weekends.

The RN Breast Navigator at Sentara Martha Jefferson Cancer Center, you will serve as the primary contact for patients experiencing breast-related issues, providing empathetic support and comprehensive education on breast cancer diagnoses and treatment options. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure seamless care by coordinating surgical schedules, performing insurance pre-authorizations, and facilitating timely access to appointments and tests. Your advocacy will empower patients by addressing their concerns, ensuring their voices are heard within the healthcare system, and guiding them to wellness and supportive care services. Ultimately, you will play a vital role in helping patients navigate their treatment journey with reassurance and clarity.

OCN certified nurses in both the Infusion Center and Medical oncology clinic.

• Infusion center has 25 chairs

• 14,000 provider visits per year

• 17,000 infusion visits per year- both oncology and non-oncology

Education

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing required

• BSN or MSN Preferred

Certification/Licensure

• For Integrated Care Management departments, specialty certification required within one year of eligibility (ACM, CCM, CCCTM, CMAC or CGMT-BC). For other service lines, certification based on specialty area required within one year of eligibility.

• Registered Nurse Licensure

• ONC certified RN preferred

• BLS required within 90 days of hire
   

Experience

• 3 years Case Management experience preferred. ​

• 3 years of Acute Care nursing experience required

• 1 year of navigator or education experience preferred

• Oncology Nursing experience preferred

• High Risk Breast Cancer experience Preferred
