About the role

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Research Associate to join Orbital Therapeutics to support pre-clinical manufacturing of mRNAs and circular RNAs. You will be a critical member of the team who will help to keep the portfolio programs on track for success. The ideal candidate will plan and execute production and purification of novel RNA molecules, while demonstrating agility to learn new tools and techniques to characterize purity of the RNA molecules. The candidate will have the opportunity to interact and learn with different cross-functional teams including process development, analytical development, the RNA platform, and other program teams.

Responsibilities: 

  • Perform experiments to produce DNA templates for in-vitro transcription.
  • Synthesize mRNAs through in-vitro transcription.
  • Perform basic mRNA analytics as recommended by USP.
  • Document results and communicate with team members.

Qualifications:

  • B.S/M.S. in Bio/Chemical Engineering, Bio/Chemistry, Manufacturing Sciences or a closely related field.
  • 2+ years of experience with standard mRNA workflow: e.g. plasmid/DNA linearization, purification, RNA synthesis by IVT, and purification.
  • Some experience with chromatographic separations of large biomolecules using HPLC or FPLC.
  • Experience with standard molecular biology techniques such as PCR, bacterial plasmid production, in vitro transcription.
  • Experience with basic nucleic acid analytics e.g. with capillary electrophoresis.
  • Previous experience with synthesis and purification in plate-based format is a plus.
