Job Summary
This highly experienced Senior Director of Software Engineering will leverage their strong management and technical competencies to establish objectives and formulate strategies for the ONTAP Platform File Services Engineering team. Collaborating cross-functionally with key stakeholders, you will drive improvements to existing products and spearhead the development of new products for cloud volumes services. Your leadership will guide engineering managers and the engineering team in the development, testing, and debugging of ONTAP's File Services stack. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in researching and defining competitive market and customer requirements, technological advancements, product quality, cost, and time-to-market.
Job Responsibilities
• Manage and allocate resources effectively to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Ensure adherence to industry best practices, standards, and regulatory requirements throughout the software engineering process.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and software engineering practices, and incorporate them into the development process as appropriate.
• Collaborate with other senior leaders to align software engineering efforts with overall business goals and objectives.
• Provide regular reports and updates to executive management on the progress, achievements, and challenges of the software engineering function, including financial performance and budget utilization.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
• Responsible for directing and controlling activities at the most senior level within the function and global geographic area.
• Demonstrates strong leadership skills by establishing clear goals, objectives and priorities that communicate the organization’s vision.
Job Requirements
• 12+ years of experience as a people manager is required.
• 10+ years of experience as a software development engineer is required.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a master’s degree, or a PhD; or equivalent experience is required.
• Experience in enterprise system software development lifecycle and demonstrated experience of delivering enterprise quality software.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, especially presentation and negotiation skills.
• In-depth understanding of concepts related to computer architecture, data structures and programming practices.
• Experience developing budgets and controlling costs.
• Understanding modern cloud technologies and best development practices.
• Proven track record balancing multiple complex cross-functional projects and processes with multiple stakeholders.
