Job Description
Primary Function of Position
The Sr. Instructional Designer will be responsible for the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of mission critical learning programs. These programs include but are not limited to the production of eLearning , instructor-led training, job aids, videos, assessments, blended learning, and internal learning sites to improve performance that create measurable business results. Development will focus on the evolving needs of our internal employees whose roles and responsibilities contribute to conceiving and creating the full spectrum of our Intuitive products. These programs will be primarily developed using programs like Articulate Storyline 360, Articulate Rise 360, Vyond, Microsoft Office, and other emerging educational technologies. The Sr. Instructional Designer will also be responsible for taking an active role in onboarding and mentoring Instructional Designers, managing large cross-departmental projects, driving process improvement, and conducting needs/gap analysis to identify learning opportunities across the POET verticals (Clinical, Product, Technical, Intuitive Process, and others as prioritized). This individual will create learning interventions that produce specific and targeted outcomes. These will be measured in a variety of ways according to best practice evaluation methodologies like Kirkpatrick.
Essential Job Duties
- In partnership with and with direction from the POET Architect, identify opportunities to create learning opportunities that bridge performance gaps in support of improved organizational performance
- Project manage all phases of several concurrent learning projects – analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation
- Proactively communicate task and project status to internal and external stakeholders, and identify/overcome project obstacles
- Identify and scope deliverables and projects, including planned and actual resource allocations
- Lead content and needs analysis to determine audience training needs, summarize and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders
- Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify and capture content needs, and develop content
- Identify and create sound and measurable learning objectives
- Create curriculum maps for components/ areas of responsibility
- Design and develop training content that is congruent with identified learning objectives, engages learners, uses appropriate training modalities and interventions, and adheres to adult learning principles
- Create multimedia assets that support instructional needs
- Conduct peer review of deliverables to ensure instructional soundness and adherence to brand standards, and provide guidance as needed
- Manage review cycles with multiple SMEs and stakeholders, and collate and implement feedback
- Work with internal teams to manage deliverables through the document control where necessary, implementation, and launch
- Lead the evaluation of learning content using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods to drive design/development improvements, and conduct a read-out to stakeholders
