What You Will Do:
The Senior Manager Strategic Sourcing Packaging is responsible for leading the execution of strategic sourcing initiatives at the business unit level for the Packaging category. The position serves as a key liaison between BU stakeholders and RTX strategic sourcing. The role focuses on internal business assessments, supplier engagement, execution of corporate sourcing strategies, issue resolution, and continuous supplier performance improvement.
Key responsibilities:
Serve as the category BU point of contact for RFPs and sourcing strategies for packaging category.
Lead internal business assessments (requirements gathering, current state analysis, usage trends) to support corporate sourcing events
Provide input into sourcing decisions, supplier selection, and award recommendations from a BU operational perspective.
Support proposal responses, cost justification, and sourcing documentation for programs involving aftermarket or customer facing solutions
Partner with finance and engineering to validate cost models and inputs from suppliers
Coordinate supply risk mitigation plans for critical suppliers and materials in assigned categories
Track risk indicators such as single source dependencies, capacity constraints, or geopolitical disruptions
Demonstrate the ability to adapt, as needed, based on rapidly changing business conditions and evolving priorities, to provide support for multiple categories based on organizational needs
Lead other business unit specific responsibilities as assigned
Travel up to 25%
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience
Must have significant Procurement/Sourcing experience in Non-Product/Indirect (preferred) and Direct
Significant experience managing Corporate categories/commodities
Qualifications We Prefer
Certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), or industry-specific credentials (e.g., CPIM for supply chain) are preferred.
Proven ability to exercise independent business judgment to drive strategies and results.
Proven ability to work with a Global & Regional teams to achieve results through leadership & influence.
Ability to excel in a dynamic environment, and to lead analysis and resolution of complex problems where success requires the evaluation of both tangible and intangible variables.
Strong ability to work across different Industries such as Aerospace, Defense & Space.
Very strong Communication skills are required in this position.
