About This Role
The Head of Global Product Protection and Supply Chain Security plays a critical role in ensuring the security and integrity of Biogen’s supply chain and safeguarding products from counterfeiting, theft, diversion, and other risks. This senior leadership position is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive strategies, policies, and programs to protect the organization's products and supply chain assets worldwide.
The Head of Global Product Protection and Supply Chain Security is a key figure in ensuring the safety and reliability of Biogen products as they move through the supply chain. This role requires a combination of strategic thinking, technical expertise, and effective leadership to protect the organization's assets and reputation while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
This position can be located in Cambridge, MA or in Baar, Switzerland.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute a global product protection and supply chain security strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Provide executive-level leadership to the product protection and supply chain security team, fostering a culture of security awareness and vigilance.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Identify and assess vulnerabilities within the supply chain, including risks related to counterfeiting, theft, fraud, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay up-to-date with international and regional regulations related to pharmaceutical supply chain security.
- Ensure the organization's compliance with relevant laws and regulations, such as the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) in the United States and international serialization requirements.
Security Technology and Systems:
- Evaluate, implement, and manage advanced security technologies, such as track-and-trace systems, authentication technologies, and digital signatures, to protect products and enhance supply chain visibility.
Security Awareness and Training:
- Develop and deliver training programs for employees, partners, and suppliers to enhance awareness of product protection and supply chain security risks and best practices.
Investigations and Incident Response:
- Lead investigations into security breaches, thefts, and product diversions, collaborating with law enforcement and relevant authorities as needed.
- Develop and implement incident response plans to minimize the impact of security breaches.
Collaboration and Partnerships:
- Foster strong relationships with industry organizations, law enforcement agencies, government bodies, and other stakeholders to share intelligence and collaborate on security initiatives.
Supply Chain Auditing and Compliance Monitoring:
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of supply chain partners to ensure compliance with security standards and contractual obligations.
- Implement monitoring and verification mechanisms to track compliance over time.
Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the annual budget for the product protection and supply chain security function, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
Reporting and Metrics:
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of security programs.
- Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on security status, incidents, and trends.
Who You Are
You are a talented Security professional with a strong understanding of global pharmaceutical supply chain regulations and standards along with an in-depth knowledge of product and supply security practices, cybersecurity principles, risk assessment, and emergency response protocols. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels and proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Extensive experience,15+ years in supply chain security, product protection, or a related field, preferably with 5+ years in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience in crisis management and incident response.
