Medical Dispatcher - Call Taker - Full Time - Evenings - Atlantic Mobile Health

About the role

Responsible for evaluating incoming calls to determine the appropriate level of emergency medical service (EMS) assistance required, dispatches units, and transmits information and messages upon request and/or according to established procedures. Assists in all operational aspects of the Communications Center, including but not limited to; preceptor programs, data entry, ongoing training / staff meetings, vehicle utilization, customer service issues, as well as interaction with field / management staff. 


Principal Accountabilities:


1. Effectively prioritizes channels and assigns emergency and non-emergency medical transport requests to appropriate vehicles and personnel (SCTU, BLS and MAV) to ensure a smooth transition and workflow from request to scheduling and through pick up or emergent response. 
2. Dispatches vehicles in a timely manner 
3. Makes accurate moment-to- moment decisions to scheduling pickups and rearranging the current plan accordingly to accommodate exceptions and emergencies. 
4. Performs ongoing demand analysis of engaged and available vehicles to ensure operational efficiency and customer satisfaction with transports. 
5. Appropriately balances the needs of the customer and the company when making critical decisions regarding transport. 
6. Ensures compliance with various state, federal and insurance regulations relating to ambulance transports when scheduling and managing transports 
7. Maintains timely and accurate tracking of all vehicles engaged in transports and makes appropriate assignments using this information about vehicle location and availability. 
8. Consistently performs status checks on crews verifying engagement, availability, safety and progress in transport. 
9. Uses CAD Dispatch system to review trip requests, appropriately schedule transports to assure timely response and vehicle/resource utilization and service. 
10. Keeps trip requests organized and prioritizes trips for appropriate sequence dispatch when emergencies develop 
11. Communicates to crew vital trip assignment and monitoring information via communication system. 
12. Prepares, completes and distributes in a timely fashion reports stating progress, issues, problems and statistics for review by other appropriate parties 
13. Perform basic data entry; demonstrate ability to learn new computer programs and perform some advanced data entry when necessary. 
14. Attends communication meetings and education sessions. 
15. Complies with and enforces all policies and procedures. Escalates concerns regarding questionable matters to appropriate management 
16. Competently performs call taker duties when work schedule or demand requires. 
14. Other related duties as assigned


Required: 
1. High school diploma/GED/ equivalent 


Preferred: 
1. Customer service and call taking/call center training courses preferred





2. at least 1 year in similar role
