Overview
The team coordinator for Patient Registration and/or Patient Financial Services is responsible and accountable for the daily operations of one or more areas. Supervises staff including coordinating quality and customer service activities; assisting in the development and monitoring of the department budget; coordinating the purchasing and payroll processes; serving as a technical resource to team members; and performing work assignments as needed to provide appropriate coverage and to mentor/assist staff. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and developing staff with the goal of developing highly effective work team. Serves as chief retention officer for areas of responsibility.
Equivalent experience in Registration may be considered in lieu of Bachelors degree.
Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) OR Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) required to be obtained within 12 months.
Education
- Bachelors Level Degree
- 2 years relevant experience (In Revenue Cycle) may be accepted in lieu of degree
Certification/Licensure
- Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) - Certification - National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) OR Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) - Certification - National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) OR Certified Revenue Cycle Professional (CRCR) - Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) within 12 months of hire Certification or License (Required)
Experience
- Bachelor Level Degree or Revenue Cycle experience in lieu of degree
- Revenue Cycle (Billing/Registration/Follow-Up); 5 years preferred previous Rev Cycle Experience
- Will lead a group of 11 Access Representatives for Reference Lab
- Prior leadership experience strongly preferred
- Can work on site at Sentara Patient Accounting or Hybrid Schedule (following completed and approved training on site); or Remote
