Day - 08 Hour (United States of America)Position Summary:
Stanford Health Care – South Bay is seeking a dedicated and experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP)—either a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP)—to join our interdisciplinary Pain Management team. This is an outpatient clinic-based position focused on delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients with chronic and acute pain conditions.
The APP will work independently to manage return patient visits, conduct pre-operative and post-operative evaluations, and engage in indirect patient care activities. There will also be opportunities to assist with and perform pain management procedures, depending on clinical interest and skills.
Responsibilities:
*Conduct return patient visits independently, assessing and managing a range of pain-related conditions
*Perform pre-operative and post-operative assessments for interventional procedures and surgeries
*Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals in developing comprehensive treatment plans
*Participate in interventional pain procedures as appropriate, with opportunity for skill development and expansion
*Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient encounters
*Utilize designated time each day for indirect patient care, including care coordination, follow-ups, and documentation
*Ensure continuity of care through communication with referring providers and care teams
*Provide patient education related to pain management techniques, medication use, and lifestyle modifications
*Uphold the standards of care consistent with Stanford Health Care's values and evidence-based practice
Required Qualifications:
*Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
*Current and valid California PA or NP license, with national certification (NCCPA or AANP/ANCC)
*Minimum of 1 year of Pain Management experience as an APP
*DEA registration with appropriate controlled substance license for California
*BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
Preferred Qualifications:
*Prior experience with interventional pain procedures
*Familiarity with Epic or similar EMR systems
*Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and patient-centered care skills
Work Environment:
*Clinic setting, Monday through Friday, daytime hours (no weekends or call)

A Brief Overview
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) functions under this Nurse Practitioner Job Description approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC).
