THE OPPORTUNITY
Michelin North America, Inc. has an opening for Corporate Counsel with a transactional and commercial law focus who will provide legal advice and guidance to internal business clients, as well as assess and implement strategies to proactively reduce legal risks. The ideal candidate will learn details of business operations and associated business strategies and apply their legal skills and experience to support achievement of business objectives while minimizing legal risk and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Commitment to excellence and the ability to deal tactfully and professionally with all levels of internal and external partners, company management and external legal counsel are qualities that will drive success in this role. This role is in a fast-paced environment and will require that you be able to handle multiple tasks and rapidly prioritize same based upon dynamic and evolving needs.

WHAT WILL YOU DO
•    Work closely with internal business teams to negotiate and draft commercial contracts.
•    Perform and/or handle all levels of legal research and analysis in conjunction with development of business strategies and policies affecting suppliers, customers and/or end users of Michelin products and services.
•    Report to senior Law Department and company management on important issues and topics.
•    Develop, implement, and maintain internal systems that promote effective, relevant and efficient legal services to internal business partners.
•    Provide legal advice and training to employees within the company on commercial and/or compliance topics.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING
•    Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited institution. Admission to and good standing in any state bar or DC bar.
•    5+ years’ experience with transactional and/or commercial legal work.
o    Specific experience with antitrust law and/or complex M&A transactions a plus. 
•    Proven success cultivating strong client and business partner relationships. 
•    Specific experience analyzing legal implications of various corporate, compliance, commercial and/or contractual matters, and a strong ability to identify legal issues and provide advice and counsel on same.
•    Excellent drafting and contract negotiation skills.
•    Ability to work in transverse team settings, drive legal strategies, and appropriately communicate information and advice logically and effectively.
•    Ability to prioritize a busy and diverse workload, proactively identify and assess potential legal issues, and seek external input when appropriate.  
•    Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office® Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn other software systems.
