Job Description

The College of Nursing and Health Science (CONHS) at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) invites applications for a senior-level 9 month, full-time, tenure track or tenure on arrival faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor of Nursing Practice and Director of Graduate Programs to begin fall 2024. Recommendations for rank and tenure will be determined upon review of qualifications and experience; tenure on arrival must be approved by the Texas A&M System Board of Regents.

The position is a vital member of the Nursing Practice Department that provides faculty coordination and evaluation of the MSN and DNP programs. The role is essential for program quality and adherence to accreditation, regulatory, and certification requirements. The faculty responsibilities include teaching, scholarship, service, and implementation and evaluation of courses and student learning. Faculty are expected to model exemplary professional behavior through work with students, peers, and community colleagues and to provide student support including mentoring, advising, recruiting, and project supervision. Faculty are also expected to participate in the CONHS activities that contribute to achieving TAMUCC and CONHS organizational goals. The position reports to the Nursing Practice Department Chair.

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned research doctorate in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Unencumbered RN and/or APRN License in the State of Texas by the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated record of high-quality teaching
  • Evidence of leadership capability and ability to work effectively with interprofessional groups.
  • Established research/scholarly activity appropriate for appointment at the rank of Assistant Associate Professor or full Professor. For appointment at the full Professor rank, a sustained record of research and extramural funding as indicated by recent publications and presentations at regional and national/international levels
  • Experience in academic nursing program development, implementation, and evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous academic, administrative experience.
  • Experience coordinating academic nursing programs
  • Experience with classroom/didactic course teaching.
  • Experience with web-based course delivery, including on-line course development, online teaching, and application of best practices in online education.
  • Prior experience with baccalaureate and/or graduate nursing education program approvals and national accreditation.
