Registered Nurse - On Call

Overview

As a registered nurse in an on call role at Heritage Christian you will be putting your critical thinking skills to work everyday while supporting the health and well-being of people with disabilities.The on-call nurse provides nursing direction and support related to acute and chronic medical concerns of the individuals we serve to direct support staff during evening, overnight hours and on weekends.

 

Pay rate for this position: $31.00 - $34.00 / hour

 

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above range represents the organization's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting

Responsibilities

Maintain on call reference materials and have knowledge of these references to ensure proper techniques in taking calls, and triaging individuals for further medical assessment and care in a timely basis as indicated.

Complete required documentation

Will follow agency written protocols regarding “on call” when answering calls

Answer calls promptly and must return calls within 30 minutes

Will make appropriate contacts for calls requiring triage of individual to After Hours Clinic or ED as well as with any questions or concerns

Will complete other duties as designated by Nursing Management Team

Qualifications

• New York State Department of Education licensure as a Registered Nurse  
• Experience with person(s) with intellectual and developmental disabilities and long-term care experience are preferable 
• Ability and temperament to work effectively with people with intellectual and physical disabilities is required 
• Flexibility with scheduling; the ability to work evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays
