Job Overview
The Senior Manager, Continuous Improvement is a member of enterprise Continuous Improvement team at Macy’s Inc., focused on driving growth through innovation, unlocking process efficiencies to improve profitability, and facilitating the execution of the company's most critical business strategies underpinning “The Bold New Chapter.” In this highly visible role, the Senior Manager engages with SVPs and VPs across core retail functions on impactful projects, including:
- Collaborating on the design of ideation sessions to identify meaningful opportunities that drive incremental sales and customer acquisition
- Optimizing ways of working to enhance efficiencies through process improvements
- Driving cross-functional execution of enterprise initiatives from strategy to implementation
In a rapidly evolving retail industry that requires high-level cross-functional collaboration to achieve desired business objectives and results, the Senior Manager plays a key role in positioning Macy’s for near- and long-term success.
In this role, the Senior Manager serves as:
- Customer Champion: Act as a champion of the customer, leveraging customer insights to build strategies and solutions that improve the customer experience and drive growth
- Enterprise Connector: Maintain a deeply curious mindset, challenge the status quo, and engage in candid debate to push thinking and unlock new, innovative opportunities and ways of working
- Outsider-Insider: Keep a pulse on industry trends and apply market knowledge to innovate and improve within the organization
- Structured Problem Solver: Apply a structured approach to ambiguous, complex problems, operating with agility and pivoting as needed with new learnings
- Storyteller: Create structure and narrative for ideas and strategies, using strong written and verbal communication skills to distill complex information into a simple, coherent narrative
- Active Facilitator: Coordinate cross-functional problem solving and encourage diverse perspectives and productive debates to drive better solutions
Reporting to the VP, Continuous Improvement, the Senior Manager develops data-driven recommendations and actively shapes scalable execution plans. The Senior Manager delivers compelling presentations to enhance decision-making and proposes solutions to open questions and risks. Performs other duties as assigned.
What You Will Do
- Lead large-scale, cross-functional projects, managing key stakeholders and partnering with teams to drive the execution of key enterprise initiatives.
- Regularly engage with senior leadership, working on projects directly for SVPs and VPs.
- Apply analytical rigor and creative problem-solving skills to strategic business challenges.
- Assess new and innovative concepts, developing implementation plans.
- Create structured solutions and frameworks to navigate ambiguous business problems.
- Synthesize key insights and formulate actionable recommendations.
- Establish trusting relationships with key stakeholders and influence across functions without formal reporting lines.
