Senior Product Manager, PostgreSQL

Your mission is to make building applications on Postgres not just reliable, but <strong>delightful</strong> — removing friction, accelerating time-to-value, and creating a developer journey that feels effortless from setup to scale.</p> <p>This is a <strong>high-impact role</strong> for someone who loves solving hard problems at the intersection of <strong>databases, developer platforms, and modern application building. </strong>You will define and own the roadmap, ensuring developer delight becomes a competitive advantage for Aiven’s Postgres offering.</p> <h2><strong>What You’ll Do:</strong></h2> <ul> <li><strong>Make the complex simple:</strong> Translate advanced database features into intuitive, developer-friendly workflows and APIs.</li> <li><strong>Own the roadmap:</strong> Define, prioritize, and drive the PostgreSQL developer experience roadmap end-to-end.</li> <li><strong>Design golden paths:</strong> Create opinionated best practices (branching, migrations, schema management etc) that guide developers toward success quickly.</li> <li><strong>Build integrations:</strong> Partner with IDEs, frameworks, and AI coding assistants to meet developers where they already work.</li> <li><strong>Drive adoption:</strong> Ensure Postgres is the easiest choice for developers — the database that “just works” when building modern apps.</li> <li><strong>Partner with sales &amp; customer success:</strong> Support deals and enterprise adoption by aligning devex features with business needs.</li> <li><strong>Collaborate cross-functionally:</strong> Work with engineering, design, and GTM to turn complex technical capabilities into elegant, usable experiences.</li> <li><strong>Measure success:</strong> Track developer activation, engagement, retention, and expansion as core KPIs.</li> </ul> <h2><strong>What We’re Looking For:</strong></h2> <ul> <li>5 to 7+ years in product management, ideally in databases, developer platforms, or cloud services.</li> <li>Proven ability to simplify complex technical features into intuitive developer experiences.</li> <li>Comfortable bringing clarity and prioritization in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.</li> <li>Strong understanding of PostgreSQL and/or relational databases, plus curiosity about extensions like pgvector, PostgREST, and Citus.</li> <li>Experience with developer workflows (CI/CD, branching, observability, AI tooling).</li> <li>Strong collaboration skills; equally comfortable working with engineers, sales teams, and developer communities.</li> <li>Excellent communication and storytelling ability to align teams and inspire adoption.</li> </ul> <h2><strong>Our Offer:</strong></h2> <p>If you ask us what’s the best thing about working for Aiven, many will probably say it’s the high concentration of talent from around the world that we have here.
