Job Description Summary

The Laboratory Associate in the position will work primarily in the Pour Off section of the Chemistry Laboratory. Responsibilities include preparing specimens for testing, aliquoting specimens for Specialty Labs and reference laboratories, and performing sample and instrument troubleshooting. This position may occasionally perform routine laboratory tests, quality control and maintenance procedures. The Laboratory Associate may also be asked to assist with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures.

Job Description

The Laboratory Associate in the position will work primarily in the Pour Off section of the Chemistry Laboratory. Responsibilities include preparing specimens for testing, aliquoting specimens for Specialty Labs and reference laboratories, and performing sample and instrument troubleshooting. This position may occasionally perform routine laboratory tests, quality control and maintenance procedures. The Laboratory Associate may also be asked to assist with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures.

The Laboratory Associate in this position will be scheduled Monday-Friday 11am-3pm. No weekends/holidays.

All members of Pathology & Laboratory Services are expected to model Standards of Behavior in daily interactions and activities.

Additional Job Description

Education:

             Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences including:

o             24 semester hours of science courses that include:

o Six semester hours of chemistry

             Six semester hours of biology

             12 semester hours of any combination of chemical or biological sciences
