Scheduler PRN

Position Title: Scheduling Coordinator – PRN
Department: Gastroenterology
Schedule: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM (occasionally until 6:00 PM) - 1 day per week
Status: PRN (Not eligible for benefits)

Position Summary:
The Scheduler is responsible for accurately and efficiently scheduling surgical procedures, diagnostic tests, therapy services, and other medical appointments. This role ensures optimal utilization of patient care facilities and supports seamless coordination across departments and external facilities. The position also includes clerical and administrative responsibilities such as maintaining records, coding charges, and verifying compliance of written orders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Schedule medical procedures and appointments in a timely and accurate manner

• Coordinate with internal departments and external facilities to ensure smooth scheduling

• Obtain and verify necessary documentation, including patient and insurance information

• Maintain accurate records and perform charge coding and auditing as needed

• Ensure all written orders are received and meet compliance standards

• Support general administrative and clerical tasks as required

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Prior experience in a medical office setting preferred

• Familiarity with insurance verification processes preferred

• Experience with Cerner scheduling system preferred

• Basic computer proficiency required

• General knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required

• Prior scheduling experience strongly preferred
