New Salary range as of 01/01/24: $2,288 - $2,752 (semi-monthly)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, hourly

Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the minimum to mid-point of the salary range for the role. Hiring at the mid-point of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth.

NOTE: Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Colorado Commercial Driver’s License Class A without restrictions is required for this position. If you do not have the required CDL, consider our Equipment Operator I or Temporary Laborer positions which can be viewed here. The Temporary Laborer position has the potential to become a regular full-time position under the Public Works career development program.


POSITION SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, performs skilled work in the operation of heavy and light equipment for constructing, maintaining, repairing and improving County roads; may lead a crew; some physical labor may also be required.

(1) Perform specialized and skilled technical procedures in road and bridge maintenance and construction including tunnels and right-of-way easements.


(2) Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment and trucks in all phases of road and bridge construction, maintenance and improvement as well as in emergency situations.


(3) Responsible for proper care of assigned equipment.


(4) Responsible for keeping service center, building and grounds in a clean and orderly condition.


(5) Attend safety and job training classes.
