We are currently seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to join our Medication Management Solutions (MMS) Infusion R&D product engineering team. This role is hybrid with the expectation to come into the office on average 3 days a week.

What you will do:

  • Infusion R&D is looking for an energetic and driven Staff Mechanical Engineer who will spearhead solutions within the Release Product Management (RPM) team supporting all product development and sustaining efforts related to current released infusion products including but not limited to product remediation, post market quality issues/complaints, product performance enhancements, supply continuity, manufacturing scale up and cost improvement.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Works under general direction and independently determines and develops approach to solutions

  • Supports material/design/process changes to the product line through design control process, with well documented research/analyses. Demonstrates accountability for successful and accurate completion of designated tasks

  • Develops novel technical solutions to complex problems using sound engineering principles, applying experimental, computational and analytical methods.

  • Contributes to a culture of innovation by proactively generating novel concepts to improve product performance or enhance products' ability to address customer needs.

  • Conducts or designs advanced prototyping and testing of design/manufacturing solutions

  • Conducts design reviews and risk analysis per design controls  

  • Works effectively within the confines of a regulated, quality-system driven, FDA-monitored medical device environment.

  • Works cooperatively with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success

Required Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering; Master's degree preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a hands-on mechanical engineer developing safety-critical medical device systems

  • Proven experience in technology or innovative product development preferably in the medical device industry with Class 2 products

  • Strong creative, analytical and problem-solving skills required. Experience in root cause methodologies/techniques preferred.

  • Create and maintain CAD models (Solidworks), define specifications, and create detailed drawings per good GD&T.

  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical analysis including modeling tolerance stacks, FEA analysis

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to tactfully advise decision-makers

  • A dedication to delivering on organizational goals

  • Experience with risk analysis, risk mitigation and dFMEA practices.

  • Proficiency with statistical techniques. Plans, implements and analyzes design of experiments (DOE).

  • Demonstrated ability to be successful in supporting multiple sub-projects concurrently, juggling multiple priorities based on criticality of the project deliverables.

  • An inventive aptitude balanced with discipline and detail-orientation
