About the role

Description

Salary 45.000 to 47.000

  • Develop and maintain meaningful, productive relationships with families, program community partners, and funders. 
  • Collaborate with personnel from relevant agencies, schools, churches, and communities.
  • Develop and implement reports, presentations, and advertising for the program.
  • Attend community resource fairs and events targeting parenting families.
  • Assist in actively maintaining at minimum 80% enrollment rate throughout the program year and assist in recruiting through various strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to ensure comprehensive services: health and social services, early childhood education, and care services for all enrolled children and families.
  • Organize and work with staff on recruitment and enrollment events and activities.
  • Implement procedures for the recruitment, enrollment, and engagement of eligible families.
  • Implement protocols to follow up on absenteeism in collaboration with the Parent Educators.
  • Assist Parent Educators in referring and linking children and families to community resources.
  • Attend quarterly meetings facilitated by the Program Coordinator to identify and assess family needs.
  • Collaborate with community partners to link clients with Early Intervention and other services as appropriate.
  • Support and contribute to inter-system collaboration with other service providers to improve the social service delivery system.
  • Responsible for maintaining program resource binders updated at each site.
  • Collaborate with SGA’s Evaluation Department to complete community assessment.
  • Participate in ongoing training and staff development provided by DFSS, Program Manager, other consultants, workshops, and conferences.
  • Attend regularly scheduled team and agency staff meetings.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Early Childhood Education, or related field.

Experience:

  • Experience working with young children ages 0-5 years old preferred.

Other:

Sensitivity to cultural diversity is required. Ability to communicate and cooperate with diverse families, various professionals and community groups. 

Must be able to make home visits to present, prospective, and former clients in the clients’ own home.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees or the organization.
Exercises discretion and independent judgment in executing tasks.
Must demonstrate the ability to establish helping relationships with families of varying educational, experiential and socio-economic backgrounds and handle emergency and crisis situations.

         Parent Educators must receive training in education, nutrition, and other topics relevant for the position, and must plan and implement appropriate family/parent educational activities and function as a member of the program team. 

  • Competent in Microsoft Office tools and inputting services in an online database.
  • Schedule may be flexible and may include some evening and weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and access to automobile. 

 

  • Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to frequently move inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Must be able to transport oneself to and from home visits.
  • Occasionally ascends/descends stairs.
  • Consistently positions oneself to assist children during activities.
  • Frequently moves desks, chairs, tables, easels, and children's toys.
  • At times may be required to lift up to 25 lbs. for various classroom and event needs.
  • Ability to move in outdoor weather conditions.
