About the role

Impact

As an Associate Technical Program Manager, you play a key role in managing projects within well-defined guidelines, acting as a bridge between Engineering, Product, and cross-functional teams. Typically handling 1-2 projects at a time, you address project-specific challenges, make informed decisions, and occasionally interface with senior leaders to ensure seamless execution. With guidance from the TPMO Manager and mentorship from senior TPMs, you contribute to a collaborative environment focused on successful project outcomes and continuous professional growth.

In this role, you impact project success through planning and execution, engaging in requirements gathering, and fostering cross-functional collaboration among diverse teams. You provide regular project updates, manage risks, and support Agile practices, helping maintain project momentum. By implementing change management strategies and contributing to the TPMO’s best practices, you will enhance project efficiency and help evolve processes that support organizational goals.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in project management.

  • Experience managing projects and/or programs using the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), ideally within a Technology organization.

  • Ability to manage more than one project at a time, while maintaining solid communication and project management standards.

  • Project management and/or Agile certifications desired (e.g. PMP, PMI-ACP, ICP, CSM, etc.). If no current credentials, must have a willingness to pursue additional training or certifications.

  • Experience managing projects and/or programs within the Data & Compliance and/or Gig economy sectors. 

  • Proven ability to analyze issues, find practical solutions, and effectively resolve problems, contributing to a track record of overcoming challenges.

  • Demonstrated track record of supporting and enhancing technical teams and processes in a maturing organization, gaining an understanding of the dynamics in evolving business landscapes.

  • Competent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Work experience in a changing environment, with the ability to seek clarity and drive progress through ambitious projects.

  • Some experience in one or more project management tools (e.g. ClickUp, Jira, Smartsheet, etc.)

  • Demonstrates a basic understanding and practice of Agile methodologies.

  • Shows developing leadership qualities, encouraging and guiding teams to foster a collaborative and positive work environment.

Work Arrangement

Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections. In-office expectations will vary by role and leader.  Certain roles may require in-office presence on a full-time basis.
