Department Summary:
Within ARD, the College Development team advances philanthropic partnerships with key alumni, parents, and friends of the College to support the educational goals of its undergraduates. This includes support for financial aid and the Odyssey Scholarship Program, teaching and research, career development, housing, athletics, and international study. The reunion program raises, on average, over $15M annually in support of the College’s fundraising efforts.
Job Summary
The Assistant Director, College Reunions offers the exciting opportunity to engage with a wide range of alumni from those newly graduated to those celebrating their 50th Class Reunion. This role will design strategies to meet fundraising goals for specific reunion cohorts through personal solicitation and peer-to-peer solicitations for the volunteers this role manages. The Assistant Director will build relationships with alumni and other stakeholders to curate a superior reunion experience with a moderate level of guidance and direction.
Responsibilities
Serves as a class manager for assigned milestone Reunion classes.
Identifies, recruits, trains, and motivates volunteers to engage and solicit their peers.
Approaches alumni interactions and committee work with a “yes, and” attitude, working to find solutions that meet both the College’s and alumni’s goals.
Partners across ARD with University Relationship Managers to engage trustees and top donors in advancing and meeting class giving goals.
Manages a portfolio of assigned Reunion prospects and identifies new prospects to cultivate, solicit, and close gifts. Speaks persuasively about the case for Reunion fundraising initiatives, maintaining a knowledge of and educating alumni about College and University fundraising priorities.
Completes 75 alumni visits per year.
Coordinates Alumni Weekend Reunion dinners and advises on Reunion wide programming, in collaboration with ARD partners to create a highly specialized College Reunion experience.
Serves as the primary point of contact for volunteers and alumni in assigned Reunion classes, responding to all phone, email, and mail inquiries in a timely manner.
Collaborates with internal and external teams to provide best-in-class Reunion experiences.
Facilitates proactive and quality data management and analysis. Pulls and updates data reports and lists as necessary.
Contributes to the formation and implementation of class specific Reunion fundraising goals and leads the class to meet these goals through personal solicitation, collaboration with University fundraising partners, and peer-to-peer solicitations from Reunion volunteers.
Seeks opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance, including building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions, and with an eye towards broadly diversifying the advancement profession.
Contributes to the planning and implementation of programs to identify, visit, and solicit alumni, parents, and other constituencies within an assigned geographical region for gifts to meet fundraising goal. Does this with a moderate level of guidance and direction.
Contributes to the development of plans to solicit prospective donors and meet campaign goals. This includes speaking to new prospects persuasively about the case for annual giving support.
