JOB SUMMARY:
We need an LNA to join the Ray of Hope department. Ray of Hope is a 10-bed voluntary short stay inpatient unit for older adults (65 years old and up) struggling with mental health concerns. Designed and staffed to treat the needs associated with aging in a caring and sensitive environment, this unit is a 'referral in' center for New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts, and beyond. As a LNA you will provide supportive care to patients and assists nurses in the provision of care.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides supportive care for patients in their activities of daily living. Activities include: AM/PM care, monitoring vital signs, feeding, toileting, bathing and dressing, changing bed linens, special observation monitoring and documentation and facilitating basic psychoeducational groups specific to the Geriatric psychiatry unit.
- Promptly and accurately communicates patient information to the appropriate team.
- Responds according to unit procedure in emergency situations. Floats to other units as necessary.
- Each shift, stocks patient bedside with required supplies, changes equipment as needed. Each shift, checks and changes needle/syringe containers as needed. Conducts unit safety rounding as assigned. Notifies appropriate department with a decreased par level as needed.
- Answers call bells or requests and refers the appropriate person to them.
- Safely transports patients to and from other departments and areas.
- Participates in the admission or discharge of patients. Escorts patients to hospital exit, removes supplies and equipment from patient room, prepares room for an admission.
- Maintains a therapeutic environment by cleaning and keeping neat the following areas: counters in all utility rooms and equipment, furniture, and toys.
- Completes other tasks as assigned.
