As a Property Accountant at Thompson Thrift, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing the financial health of our Residential properties. Your expertise will be crucial in preparing accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring seamless communication with outside investors and lenders, and safeguarding the integrity of our general ledger.

Your Role as Property Accountant:

  • Prepare & Distribute Financial Statements: Produce monthly and quarterly financial statements for our real estate entities and deliver them to investors and lenders with precision.
  • Manage Construction Loan Draws: Oversee monthly loan draws for properties under development, reviewing project costs, and collaborating closely with project managers.
  • Support Acquisitions & Turnover: Work alongside our Controller to assess insurance needs for property acquisitions, project turnovers, and dispositions.
  • Ensure Financial Accuracy: Handle general ledger entries, depreciation schedules, and resolve accounting, reporting, and tax issues with meticulous attention to detail.

 

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Coding invoices for assigned properties, processing payments, and maintaining recurring payables.
  • Assisting Property Managers with budgeting and reporting on asset acquisitions.
  • Managing lender reporting, tax assessments, and preparing year-end financial reports.
  • Monitoring tax obligations and ensuring timely payments, maintaining accurate records for our properties.

 

Our Ideal Candidate for this Role:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and real estate accounting software, with experience in Yardi or Timberline being a plus.
  • A background in public accounting or real estate accounting is highly preferred.
