POSITION SUMMARY

The Advanced Practice Practitioner works as part of the Hunt Regional provider team, performing a variety of direct patient services including assessment, diagnosis, implementation of treatment, evaluation, monitoring of the general patient management plan, and chronic care. The Advanced Practice Practitioner performs these functions under the general supervision of a licensed physician in the Hunt Regional Healthcare system. Services may be performed at any of the Hunt Regional Healthcare locations.

 

POSITION SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reports To:
    • VP of Business Operations
    • Medical Director of Urgent Care Services
    • Director of Urgent Care Services
  • Supervises:
    • Licensed and unlicensed clinical staff
    • Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant students, as requested

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum Education
    • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistance program.
    • Credentialed by Medical Staff.
  • Minimum Work Experience
    • None
  • Required Licenses/Certifications
    • Must have a current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistance license.
    • Must have or be eligible to have a Texas Pharmacy and DEA License.
    • BLS and ACLS
    • DOT Examiner Certification within 90 days of hire
  • Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
    • Strong critical thinking skills and exceptional ability to integrate knowledge.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiating skills with all levels of internal and external customers.
    • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, including positive relationship building, negotiation, conflict resolution, follow-through and follow-up.
    • Organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Knowledge of health promotion, health risk identification, and patient education principles and techniques.
    • Knowledge of community, professional, and educational resources.
    • Knowledge of practice management systems including electronic health record systems (EHRs).
    • Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, clinical staff, and the public.
    • Ability to competently use Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and appropriate practice management software.
  • Preferred Qualification
    • Prior Urgent Care or Emergency Department experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must work varied hours to meet the demands of the position. May be exposed to communicable diseases. May be exposed to combative and irrational patients. Is required to read paper and electronic medical records. Is required to key information using a computer monitor and keyboard. Works will be primarily performed in an office. Due to the nature of hospital services, it may become necessary to work extended hours or other variations of the usual shift or schedule to ensure adequate care of patients and to maintain service to the community.
