About the Role

Loam Bio is growing rapidly and in the process of expanding our laboratory footprint in Maine. We are seeking a part-time (2-3 days/week) Lab Technician to assist with all support functions including labelling, cleaning lab dishes, making buffers, and aliquoting samples. This is an entry level position with room for advancement. On the job training can be offered to those without bioproduction lab experience.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare media and chemical solutions
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of laboratory work areas
  • Autoclave equipment and lab consumables
  • Adhere to correct procedures, policies and health/safety guidelines
  • Assist in variety of lab assays

Requirements


  • As a bioproduction facility, we require above-average attention to detail and the ability to read and understand written technical documents. We expect a high standard of diligent compliance with procedures. Given the lab workflow, the ideal candidate will be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly and spend much of the day standing.
  • An AS or BS in a science field is preferred but not necessary.
  • Lab experience is preferred
  • The position will be starting in our Brunswick, ME location and move to our South Portland, ME location in July 2023.
  • A strong work-ethic, positive attitude, and ability to adapt are all characteristics necessary for this role.
