Analyst II, Corporate Development

Summary
Spire is seeking a Corporate Development Analyst to support initiatives that will contribute to long term earnings growth. This position is highly visible to the senior management team. This analyst will assist in financial valuation and modeling, drafting presentations for potential investments and other strategic initiatives, as well as assisting with corporate strategic planning and project development across Spire’s business units.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare financial and valuation models and analyses, pro-forma financial statements, and business cases for potential acquisitions and organic growth opportunities
- Be an integral part of the M&A process, particularly in evaluation, due diligence, and recommendation phases
- Assist in preparing presentations for potential acquisitions, investments, and other strategic initiatives to the senior management team
- Assist in the strategic planning and long-term financial planning processes for Spire’s business units
- Support Spire’s strategic planning and corporate development efforts, including:
- Conducting industry value chain, competitive, and strategic analyses
- Preparing M&A market and transaction analyses
- Conducting high level and detailed analyses of targets
- All other duties as assigned
Essential Characteristics and Competencies
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency with discounted cash flows and other valuation modeling techniques
- Advanced capabilities using Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Experience building financial models with an Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement
Required Education (certifications, licenses)
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, economics, or MBA (with concentration in finance) is required
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
- Knowledge of accounting and financial principles and valuation concepts
- Ability to sift through data from multiple sources to identify trends, opportunities, and risks to evaluate potential acquisitions and investments
- Ability to manage time effectively and work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a timely manner
- Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to create and present materials for Senior Leadership, Board of Directors, or other audiences
- Interest in the gas industry and Spire in general
- Comfortable with abstract concepts and complex issues, and demonstrated intellectual curiosity

Physical demands, environment and schedule
- Normal work environment - work is normally performed in a shared office environment.
- Typically, 8:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the flexibility to work additional hours as required depending on the number of active projects and their deadlines.
- Minimal travel may be required.
