Your Specific Responsibilities:
The incumbent in this position shall be responsible for multiple environmental health programs in Hendry and Glades Counties. This position requires vast technical knowledge within all environmental health programs. The incumbent must have the ability to exercise discretion and make independent professional judgments within all environmental health programs. Primary responsibilities include food hygiene coordinator, monitoring and conducting routine inspections of migrant labor housing facilities, biomedical waste facilities, food hygiene facilities, mobile home and recreational vehicle parks, public and private schools, public swimming pools, tattooing facilities, and tanning facilities, investigating complaints and preparing reports, legal notices and other documents. Other responsibilities include monitoring and conducting inspections of onsite sewage and treatment disposal system inspections and monitoring, permitting, coordinating and conducting water well construction inspections. Position functions independently and under the direction of the Environmental Manager. This position is headquartered at the Florida Department of Health in Hendry County, Division of Environmental Health, and reports directly to the Environmental Supervisor. The incumbent in this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code.
Performs onsite sewage treatment and disposal system inspections (to include initials, re-inspections, finals, existing, I/M inspections, and walk-throughs) in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 62-6 and Florida Statutes 381.065. Upon request, conducts OSTDS site evaluations and system design as needed. Drafts appropriate correspondence for compliance and enforcement actions.
Reviews and recommends action on license applications for migrant labor housing facilities. Perform routine compliance inspections on migrant labor housing facilities according to Chapter 64E-14. 
Completes inspection forms accurately and completely. Submit copy of inspection to owner/management company either in person, by email, or regular USPS mail. Submit inspection report to supervisor 
for review. Inform owner and/or management company of violations noted during inspection. Perform re-inspections as needed, following stated time frame. Implement rules of Chapter 64E-14 to bring 
each facility into compliance. Keep supervisor informed of all progress.
Reviews and recommends action on license applications for food hygiene facilities. Perform routine compliance inspections on food hygiene facilities according to Chapter 64E-11 and Florida Statutes 
381.0072. Completes inspection forms accurately and completely. Submit copy of inspection to owner/management company either in person, by email, or regular USPS mail. Submit inspection report 
to supervisor for review. Inform owner and/or management company of violations noted during inspection. Perform re-inspections as needed, following stated time frame. Implement rules of 
Chapter 64E-11 and Florida Statutes 381.0072 to bring each facility into compliance. Keep supervisor informed of all progress.
Reviews and recommends action on license applications for biomedical waste facilities. Perform routine compliance inspections on biomedical waste facilities according to Chapter 64E-16 and 
Florida Statutes 381.0098. Completes inspection forms accurately and completely. Submit copy of inspection to owner/management company either in person, by email, or regular USPS mail. Submit 
inspection report to supervisor for review. Inform owner and/or management company of violations noted during inspection. Perform re-inspections as needed, following stated time frame. Implement 
rules of Chapter 64E-16 and Florida Statutes 381.0098 to bring each facility into compliance. Keep supervisor informed of all progress.
Reviews and recommends action on license applications for mobile home, lodging, recreational vehicle parks, and recreational camps. Perform routine compliance inspections on mobile home, 
lodging, recreational vehicle parks, and recreational camps according to Chapter 64E-15 and Florida Statutes 513. Completes inspection forms accurately and completely. Submit copy of inspection to 
owner/management company either in person, by email, or regular USPS mail. Submit inspection report to supervisor fo
