Terran Orbital is seeking exceptional students to join us for engineering roles in Summer 2023. Interns will assist their teams in working across their department domains in information technology development and implementation for a space organization. Engineering interns will report to the engineering management team. This position is an incredible opportunity for motivated students to shape the outcome of our commercial/defense space capabilities and to develop engineering skills and experience in a technology growth area.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
- Your primary responsibility is to support quality assurance (QA), and mission assurance (MA) management and engineering staff, assist in developing and implementing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), the associated data metrics structure and reporting, and work with the enterprise system administrator to develop trend reports, graphics, and KPI reports.
- Collaborate with Quality and Supply Chain to mature the Supplier Quality Program elements, including supplier quality practices and procedures, trending, monitoring/reporting dashboard, and supplier corrective action report (SCAR) tracking.
- Develop and update quality assurance and mission assurance procedures, work instructions, and checklists released in the enterprise document control system.
- Establish operating procedures that support quality assurance, mission assurance, risk mitigation, and safety.
- Organize and establish a library of references and the required specification.
- Perform quality and mission assurance activities as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in an engineering or computer science discipline or a master’s student in those fields.
- Ability to work full-time, on-site at our Irvine, CA, location for 10 to 12 weeks during the summer.
- Academic excellence (GPA of 3.0 or higher)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office productivity tools
- Excellent collaboration and organizational skills
- Desire to learn, be an active contributor, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and agile environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Impeccable attention to detail and a sense of urgency
- Ability to self-govern with minimal supervision, establish workload priorities, and utilize efficient time management practices to achieve assigned tasks.
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, the applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 22 CFR §120.15 or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
ADDITIONAL DIFFERENTIATORS:
- Knowledge of space domain and architectures for space-based satellite systems
- Previous experience in the aerospace industry
- Previous experience with JIRA
- Knowledge of quality and mission assurance standards, e.g., AS9100, ISO9001
