Natcast (short for The National Center for the Advancement of Semiconductor Technology) is a new, purpose-built, non-profit entity created to operate the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC) consortium, established by the CHIPS Act of the U.S. government.

Natcast is a new non-profit consortium created to operate the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC) established by the CHIPS Act. We are uniting industry, academia, and government to solve the most daunting challenges across semiconductor research, development, and workforce training. Our efforts will solidify American leadership in chip technology vital to economic strength and national security.
As our inaugural technology leader based in Silicon Valley, you will develop strategies guiding high-impact research investments across this preeminent innovation ecosystem. You will direct vital initiatives exploring novel architectures, materials, designs, and manufacturing processes to overcome barriers to progress. Your vision and dynamism will galvanize teams tackling paradigm-shifting projects that cement our status as the global semiconductor powerhouse.
Responsibilities
Technology Strategy:
Working with the NSTC membership and government partners, develop and implement a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with Natcast’s overall goals.
Prioritize investment areas as to type of technology, where in the technology cycle, and where in the supply chain the technology is needed.
Participate in the creation of processes and methodologies to drive the allocation of resources towards investment projects, such as proposing RFPs and evaluating applications of potential performers of research for Natcast.
Serve as the technology voice within Natcast for other program elements such as the Investment Fund.
Research and Development Management:
Oversee and manage research and development portfolio of Natcast.
Specify, hire, and direct researchers participating in high priority research projects, either internally or with external research performers.
Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
As Natcast expands to multiple Technical Centers of Excellence, align the research agenda across those centers and identify projects that may span multiple Technical Centers
Drive a research agenda that is relevant to the needs of the US semiconductor industry
Industry Leadership:
Be a visible and influential leader in the semiconductor industry, participating in industry conferences and standard-setting bodies.
Establish and maintain strong partnerships with government entities, businesses, and academic/research institutions.
Team Leadership:
Build and lead a high-performing technology team.
Mentor and develop team members to achieve their full potential.
Collaboration:
Collaborate internally with cross-functional teams and externally with wide-ranging stakeholders to integrate technology solutions across the semiconductor industry.
Create and manage one or more technical advisory boards to ensure that the broader semiconductor community provides input and advice to technology priorities.
Develop strong relationships within the Department of Commerce and other government agencies to ensure that Natcast activities are highly aligned with those of other CHIPS investment areas in support of US Economic and National Security.
Work closely with executive leadership to align technology initiatives with business objectives.
