About the role

Position Summary

The Captive Insurance Accounting and Reporting Manager is responsible for managing the team of captive insurance accounting professionals and overseeing the accounting and financial reporting processes and procedures for captive insurance entities. The role conducts financial analysis to assess performance and profitability, leads budgeting and forecasting activities, and establishes internal controls. They coordinate audits, streamline processes, mentor the team, oversee financial systems, and communicate results to senior management, fostering transparency and informed decision-making.

What will your job entail?

  • Manages the accounting and financial reporting functions for captive insurance entities within the specialty insurance and ensures compliance with all applicable statutory and Group regulations.

  • Produces unaudited financial statements and works with the client auditor to assist the efficient completion of the annual and quarterly audited financial statements.

  • Oversees the professionals preparing and analyzing financial statements for captive insurance operations such as preparing loss triangulation and budget comparisons or projections reports.

  • Conducts financial analysis to assess the performance and profitability of captive insurance operations, providing insights to senior management for strategic decision-making. Monitors investment returns and takes investments decisions.

  • Leads the budgeting and financial forecasting activities for captive insurance entities, collaborates with teams to develop financial plans aligned with business objectives.

  • Establishes and maintains internal controls and financial reporting processes for captive insurance operations and safeguards assets to ensure the integrity and reliability of financial information.

  • Supports captive insurance audits, manages operational risks, liaisons with auditors, and implements audit recommendations to enhance controls and processes.

  • Identifies opportunities to streamline captive insurance accounting processes and optimizes system functionalities through automation and process redesign initiatives.

  • Mentors and develops the captive insurance accounting team, provides guidance, training, and performance feedback to foster a high-performing and collaborative work environment.

  • Oversees the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of financial systems specific to captive insurance operations and ensures data integrity.

  • Presents captive insurance financial results, analyses, and insights to senior management and facilitates informed decision-making and transparency within the organization.


Work Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with 7+ years of related work experience.

  • 2+ years of management experience. Any other related discipline or commensurate work experience considered.


Licenses & Certifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) is preferred.
