About the role

Overview

CommIT is seeking a Systems Test Engineer-Sr with demonstrated expertise supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs. This position will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise in the testing, engineering, and system management and administration of new DoD systems.  The Senior Systems Test Engineer must have an excellent understanding of, and experience in systems engineering, specifically software test and evaluation. He/she should have knowledge of the system development life cycle, including system definition, development, design, analysis and control, integration, and testing. He/she should have knowledge and experience with Department of Defense (DoD)/Navy plans, policies, standards, and methods aimed at supporting engineering and integration efforts that are associated with the systems administration, software development, and security compliance of software builds for military systems. Responsibilities

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to-

  • Support the development and implementation of end-to-end Test & Evaluation (T&E) support for DoD software applications. Support shall include developing operationally realistic test concepts, risk assessment determinations, operational data requirements, interface requirements, test planning, test execution and test reporting
  • Advise and support software development programs by providing technical domain knowledge to augment independent cybersecurity evaluation teams performing formal testing (Annual Security Review, Cyber Compliance Test) as part of acquisition program certification and accreditation (C&A) activities
  • Support software development and Systems of Systems (SoS) architecture for new capabilities
  • Provide systems engineering support for the development life cycle of a system, including system definition, development, design, analysis and control, integration, and testing
  • Able to research and analyze existing software, hardware, and applications to provide plans and recommendations
  • Participate and or lead conference calls and meetings with customers to discuss changes to software, hardware and applications and new implementation recommendations
  • Work with personnel as needed to ensure all software, hardware or applications are working correctly
  • Assist with the creation, implementation, and maintenance of standard operating procedures for application or systems migration, configuration support, and network operations which improve service and repeatability
  • Identify and mitigate risk associated with all transition efforts
  • Provide plans, reports, or technical input, as needed
  • Collaborate with other contractor teammates and customers daily
  • Work closely with customers to ensure deliverables meet their expectations and arrive in a timely manner
  • Assist with the development of new deployment strategies
  • Assist with development and/or traceability of requirements 

Qualifications

Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of professional experience, with eight (8) years of DoD specific experience
  • Six (6) of the ten (10) years must detail progressively increasing levels of responsibility in organizations and task experience
  • Hands on experience in engineering and/or testing
  • End to end testing of applications
  • Working knowledge of testing methodologies
  • Expertise in documenting and testing requirements using industry standard techniques
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication, planning and organization/control skills; strong analytic and problem-solving skills
