Key Responsibilities and Expectations:

 

The Director of Global HSE Compliance & Governance is a critical leadership role responsible for building, maintaining, and continuously improving IPS’s Health, Safety & Environmental management system across North America and the UK. Reporting directly to the Vice President of HSE, this leader serves as the center of excellence for HSE governance, regulatory compliance, management systems, audits, corrective actions, documentation, training standards, environmental compliance, technology, and acquisition integration.

This role establishes the HSE standards, systems, processes, and expectations that enable consistent execution across IPS. The Director is responsible for defining, governing, measuring, and improving those standards across the enterprise.

  • Own, develop, and continuously improve the IPS HSE management system
  • Establish and maintain HSE governance processes, policies, procedures, standards, and operating expectations
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, Canadian federal and provincial regulations, UK requirements, and other applicable HSE obligations
  • Monitor regulatory changes and lead implementation planning across the organization
  • Maintain the HSE manual and document control processes
  • Standardize HSE forms, JSAs, permits, inspection tools, incident investigation processes, critical risk programs, and compliance documentation
  • Lead the annual HSE audit strategy, including audit schedules, internal compliance audits, enterprise assessments, and gap analyses
  • Manage corrective action processes, including tracking, aging, ownership, completion status, and trend identification
  • Own HSE program standards, including electrical safety, arc flash, lockout/tagout, confined space, working at heights, mobile equipment, contractor safety, driving safety, environmental compliance, hazard communication, PPE, machine guarding, and incident investigation
  • Establish training standards and minimum requirements for HSE programs
  • Partner with Regional HSE Directors to support consistent deployment and execution of HSE standards and programs
  • Lead HSE integration for newly acquired companies, including compliance assessments, gap analyses, documentation alignment, training requirements, and transition to IPS standards
  • Oversee environmental compliance programs, reporting, permitting, inspections, and recordkeeping
  • Own compliance dashboards, audit metrics, corrective action reporting, training completion tracking, inspection completion tracking, regulatory reporting status, and executive compliance reporting
  • Ensure HSE data is accurate, consistent, and usable for decision-making
  • Lead and develop the HSE Compliance function
  • Own third-party compliance platforms, including Avetta, ISNetworld, DISA, and similar systems
  • Establish enterprise fleet safety standards, including driver qualification, MVR reviews, incident reporting, inspections, and corrective actions
  • Analyze fleet safety trends and partner with Operations, Fleet, Risk Management, and Regional HSE leaders to reduce vehicle-related risk
  • Provide functional leadership and governance across the broader HSE organization
  • Partner with operations, HR, Legal, Risk Management, Training, Quality, Technology, and Integration teams
  • Build scalable HSE systems that support IPS’s continued growth, acquisition integration, and operational complexity

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety<
