About the role
Overview
Drives and maintains an emergency medical vehicle during the assigned shift. Assists with patient care as directed by the RN/paramedic staff and independently provides patient care according to treatment protocols in accordance with NCCEP protocols set forth by the N. C. Office of EMS.NOTE: This position requires a pre-employment Physical Capacity Profile Test. See Addendum for additional information.

Responsibilities
Performs safe operation of emergency vehicles and demonstrates appropriate maintenance and operation of vehicles and equipment--------------------------------------------------Utilizes various communications devices and demonstrates clear, efficient, and accurate communications skills--------------------------------------------------Participates in direct patient care within the EMT-B scope of practice--------------------------------------------------Exercises considerable independent judgment in the development, implementation, and evaluation of EMT-Basic care based on transport treatment protocols--------------------------------------------------Demonstrates a high level of teamwork with other members of the team--------------------------------------------------Demonstrates effective conflict resolution/negotiation skills--------------------------------------------------Establishes a caring and therapeutic patient relationship--------------------------------------------------Participates in continuing education to increase knowledge and skills to provide care to all patient populations and completes all mandatory continuing education including a minimum of 24 hours per year. CE records provided annually for verification.--------------------------------------------------
Qualifications

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED:Current valid NC EMT certification, verified through EMS Performance Improvement Center - ContinuumBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider Completion of Emergency Vehicle Operator's course within 1 year of hireMust be a valid licensed driver for a minimum of 5 years and hold a current valid driver's license with good driving history. MVR must be approved by Risk Management.PREFERRED:Emergency Vehicle Operator's course completed prior to hire
