Project Coordinator- Medical Staff Office

Position Summary

Coordinates projects, meetings, credentialing documentation and reports related to the MSO credentialing and privileging process.  Confirms MSO work product is in compliance with NYP/Departmental Policies & Procedures, Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and Regulatory Accreditation bodies. Ensures deadlines for Medical Staff Reappointment cycles are met and documentation is produced and distributed as needed.  Key contributor to MSO Credentialing staff with regards to workflow development, quality control and process improvement.

Essential  Job Duties

  • Coordinates the credentialing and privileging activity. Ensuring that a.) The credentialing system is maintained in accordance with MSO policy and process guidelines; b.) Clinical privilege information is accurately tracked and made available to appropriate NYP staff; c.) Participates in the development and modifications, alongside the Director and CMO, to the workflow of credentialing information to ensure accreditation compliance and data integrity.

  • Coordinates special projects, activities and implementation of new systems assigned by MSO Director. Maintains an orderly record of planned and completed activities, as well as, provides regular status updates.

  • Coordinates activities and priorities to ensure compliance with appointment/reappointment cycles (e.g., credentials committee schedule agendas, facilities, personnel, supplies and other required support services as required).

  • Collects and analyzes information for review by appropriate management staff regarding programs, services, projects and business processes.

  • Coordinates implementation of new systems, including testing of the data system and close interaction with the Data Analyst, to work out bugs and refine the database.

  • Serves as liaison between Leadership and staff to communicate plans and coordinate attendance.

  • Continually assess programs and projects and makes recommendations for change in scope or practice to ensure goals and initiatives of the department are met.

  • Assists team with developing and implementing solutions to make the teams more effective.

  • Proactively highlights issues that inhibit attainment of goals and implements corrective action.

  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.                                                                         

Required Qualifications      

  • BA or equivalent work experience

  • 3+ years working on projects or relevant experience

  • Ability to make independent judgments

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; particularly Outlook

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to act with discretion

  • Organizational, research and analytical background

  • Knowledge of Medical Staff Credentialing and Privileging Accreditation Standards

  • Knowledge of Organizational skills

  • Knowledge of People Coordination Skills
