Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented specialist to support research and development efforts in plant-based rubber production. The successful candidate will contribute to experimental design and execution, manage plant growth systems, and lead teams in the cultivation and processing of rubber-producing plants. This role involves both hands-on laboratory and greenhouse work, as well as coordination and supervision of staff and students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grow and maintain plant calli and tissue cultures.
  • Cultivate plants in greenhouse, field, and hydroponic systems.
  • Manage teams involved in large-scale plant growth and seed collection.
  • Extract and quantify latex and rubber from plant materials.
  • Cast and dip cured films, including composite materials.
  • Conduct mechanical testing, including tensiometric analysis.
  • Supervise and train undergraduate/graduate students and staff in plant production and rubber extraction techniques.
  • Collaborate with project PIs and team leads to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges.
  • Maintain accurate records and organize data using Microsoft Office and platform-specific software.
  • Analyze and interpret data; prepare weekly summaries, reports, and visual data presentations.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and contribute to collaborative research efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience:
    • 0 years with a Bachelor’s degree
    • 2 years with an Associate’s degree
    • 4 years with a High School diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in plant tissue culture and greenhouse operations.
  • Familiarity with rubber/latex extraction and mechanical testing methods.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management tools.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.

The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications
