Sr. Application Engineer - BESS

About the role:

WEG Electric Corp. has an excellent opportunity for a Sr. Application Engineer - BESS. This role is responsible and accountable for developing the commercial and technical proposals for Utility-scale

Battery Energy Storage Systems. A successful candidate will have knowledge of the renewable energy industry, energy markets, and battery energy storage solutions including associated controls and hardware. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to demonstrate a working knowledge of common electrical equipment in Utility-scale electric transmission and distribution systems, the renewable energy industry, energy markets, and battery energy storage solutions including associated controls and hardware. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to demonstrate a working knowledge of common electrical equipment in Utility-scale electric transmission and distribution systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Support field sales.
• Communicates with Field Sales, Customer(s), engineering group and suppliers effectively.
• Ability to review requests for quotation to understand and interpret customer’s commercial and technical needs.
• Identify project/customer details vital for determining quotation strategies and competitive strengths/weaknesses.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, engineering, and project management to develop proposals that accurately reflect the capabilities of WEG’s BESS team
• Develop technical solution to meet customer expectations. When necessary, engage directly with customers for clarification or communication of technical results.
• Generate technical and commercial proposals that accurately reflect WEG’s technical solution, commercial capabilities, and value to the customer.
• Document management experience.
• Provides technical and commercial training and mentoring to more junior team members and field sales as appropriate.
• Assist in developing proposal templates for standard offerings.
• Assist in managing database of issued proposals, vendor quotations, and competitive information.
• Occasional support for industry events such as trade shows, webinars, and other events.
• Be part of a team gathering information on the competitive landscape of BESS in North America.

Education: (minimum education or equivalent in relevant experience)

Bachelor’s degree

Field of Study if required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field from a 4-year college or university is preferred, or equivalent related work experience.

Knowledge

• Engineered sales or electrical engineering background required.
• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, electrical drawings, symbols and nomenclature is required.
• Ability to manage multiple facets of complex projects simultaneously required.
• Ability to manage workflow to strict deadlines required.
• Experience generating electrical drawings (ex. single line diagram) and equipment layouts required.
